I would love to add one of these CEF helmets to my collection but find them a bit of a minefield as they are out of my area of expertise .

hi Bill, could you expand on your comments on the vendor and reference to this ebay listed helmet.  Has the vendor been discussed on this forum?  If so, could you direct me to the thread.  Are you saying this 24th battalion brodie and or the painted insignia is a fake?  If so, what would be the telltale signs of a faked brodie.  Much appreciated.

The offerings by this vendor are subject to much discussion. Sometimes they appear okay, but other times they are questionable. I believe there are several threads dealing with offerings that are suspect. Have a look at those.
Some thoughts on this offering. The battle patch is very large, much larger than those that are found on other Mk 1's.

Here's another recently sold CEF brodie on Ebay.  I've never seen an artillery cap badge mounted on an MKI like this one. I wondered if anyone else has seen an example like this one with an Artillery insignia painted or badge applied.
