    I have this F.S. Cap in my collection and i still don't know what the buttons in front of the cap mean.
    Hope you can help me with this one.

    My eyesight sucks. But to me the buttons almost appear to be USAAF. any markings inside the cap? dates, manufacturer, broad arrow etc.

    Yup, US navy tunic buttons.

    Yes all available.
    It is a 1942 dated cap made by Hamilton uniform cap co.and with the C/|\.

    Any idea how these buttons get on this cap?
    Postwar applied or even possible during the war?
