I got this helmet today from an ebay purchase. It is a nice 1942 AG/C made lid, but what puzzles me is the WA war assets stamp near the mfr. stamp. Was this common on AG/C helmets, and what would it indicate? I'm guessing that it was stamped to release it to the surplus market, but that's just a wild guess. This is only the second AG/C I've ever had...the other one did not have this stamp.

Re: War Assets Stamp on MkII Helmet
Hi Dale,
I've seen the WA stamp on all sorts of WW2 material. As far as I know, it only indicates that the items were surplused off at the war's end.

Re: War Assets Stamp on MkII Helmet
Nice find... I've only seen the WAC ink stamps before. This is the first time that I've seen this stamp in metal before and also the first WAC marked helmet to boot.
