Father/Son Medal Groups Empty Father/Son Medal Groups

    Post by jholl72 Thu Mar 17, 2011 7:49 pm

    Hi guys,
Picked up this medal grouping today from the family. It was the guys Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
The Abyssinian Medal is to the 26th Regiment and the QSA is to the Scottish Horse. The WWII trio is to the RFA. As you can see there are the original boxes and mailing envelopes for the trio.
Also a couple of field bibles and a silver tube that I guess is a match holder...need to look into that one.
Was very happy to add these to my collection.

    Hi Jeff

Very nice. I should think you're happy with them.

Will we see these on British Medal Forum too?

Hey Jeff, either you were holding out on me or simply didn't read your entire email... I only recall you asking about the QSA.

I you have not already posted these on the British Medals Forum, I suggest you do so. Ask them for a little help and you should get a reply pretty quick on how to pursue the research of these men.

WOW what a grouping. I am impressed.

    Thanks guys!
Not bad for a guy who doesn't collect medals, eh! LOL!
I also fell into another WWI trio today, South Staffs! Pics later, I am off to an OHL game!
I will post on the other forum as well, I am going to need some help with the research. I haven't done any this far back nor British, other than the Medal Index Cards.

Cliff, I only asked about the QSA as I was confident with the trio and had not yet seen pics of the Abyssinian medal. I had to check it out in person and liked it. Thanks for your help again!!!

I just tried to post them over at British War Medals Forum and apparently I am not a member there. I thought I had joined up awhile ago, guess not.
Waiting for my account to be activated so will post them when I can. I'm thinking it might be three generations medals, the Abyssinian medal is named to 851 C. Connor, the QSA is named to 28904 G. Connor and the WWI trio is named to 23416 W. Connor.

Jeff that is quite the grouping for sure. I was more than a little shocked when you posted it. LOL Welcome to the dangerous side of Commonwealth collecting. Naming, entitlements, re-naming etc etc etc. Do you realize I no longer have a single QSA in my collection? I parted with the few I had a while back to fund something else.

Any chance you are attending the Toronto show next weekend? I am trying to arrange transportation but no one seems to want to put up with me as a passenger from Ottawa to Toronto. LMAO. Wonder why?

Thanks to Darrel's suggestion on joining British Medal Forum, I was able to get some information regarding all three generations of the Conner family.
    Pics attached.
