Nice tunic! Thanks for sharing. Any other WW2 tunics in your collection?

Yes. I have a rack, and man are they getting harder to find, especially at a decent price. I will post some more when I can.

Good looking jacket. Do you happen to know a name that goes with it?

Unfortunately no. There is not one mark or patch inside to indicate who this officer was who owned this.

Nice tunic... curious why you used the term "officer quality" in your description as it is exactly the same quality as an enlisted man's tunic only with officer rank pips.
Your right, infantry unit tunics are definitely pricey these days.

Re: Regina Rifle regiment Tunic
The tunic has been significantly tailored. I believe that the liner on the collar has been added, or replaced as the colour does not match the rest of the interior liner. There is extensive pleating in the back, and there seems to me an extra pleat in the cuff. It may be just the construction of the tunic cuffs as I do not have enough uniforms to compare Tip Top's construction to other companies like the Workman's Uniform company, T. Eaton Company, Du-Val etc. The collar on the inside looks like it has been worn open a lot. There is slight folds in the cloth, and the hooks don't look too scuffed. I assume to allow for a tie, which Other Ranks were not suppose to wear.
I have thought about why this tunic to unit from Regina is from Tip Top Tailors of which were in Toronto and Montreal I believe, and not Devonshire Clothes from Winnipeg. I guess uniforms were just handed out, and not based on proximity to manufactures, if you understand what I mean..I'm not saying it very clearly...lol...
Over all, I guess what I was trying to say was that it just appears to be a higher quality of tunic than something issued to Other Ranks. It just remined me of a "walking out" BD uniform, with it's tailoring, crisp lines through the scalloping on the pockets, the extra pleats in the back...and even the material seems less course -but again that could just be Tip Top's allotment of material at the time...
Even the stitching through the shoulder flash has been neatly tucked into the green line -just another little detail...

Re: Regina Rifle regiment Tunic
You hit the nail on the head... EM walking out tunics can also be found with the extra pleating and later in the war EM's were indeed permitted to wear a tie and open collar... No big deal, just curious why you used that term.

Re: Regina Rifle regiment Tunic
Have a look at the collar on the Ordnance Corp tunic I posted, and how worn out it is.. I like that this Regina Rifles tunic is very crisp and clean...well looked after...or not worn much...lol

pips
One thing of concern are the rank pips. They aren't rifle regiment pips.Rifle regiment cloth pips are either rifle green on red or rifle green on lighter green ( ie Winnipeg Rifles). The pips on this tunic appear to be the khaki on green backing. This would be the rank insignia for Forestry corps, Intelligence etc....

Re: Regina Rifle regiment Tunic
Or CDC.
There is information in the 1943 War Dress Regulations for the Canadian Army (1943), Section IV, Badges of Rank. The information has been reproduced in various references. The colour for the CFC is described as green, and for the CDC, as emerald green. As Dwayne says, rifle green is a very dark green.
However, the regimental history UP THE JOHN'Sindicates that:
For officers the old style (rank) badges of rank, "pips" and crowns were black or black with scarlet backings. (pg 227).

Re: Regina Rifle regiment Tunic
Nice battledress.
I also noticed the question about the colour of the officer pips. I believed they should have been black on red for the Regina Rifle.
And black on dark green would be for the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, right ?
