The Fighting Schan Family Empty The Fighting Schan Family

    Post by mk1rceme Mon Jan 23, 2012 5:19 pm

Just found out the other day that my neighbors Grandfather was a Military Medal recipient in WWII. Also, his family holds the record for most enlisted from a single family, 7 men, 1 woman. I've been living next door to him for years and never knew...or at least it never came up in conversation.

Here is a little write up about Leo Schan. Unfortunately no pic of Leo in this link.

A few pics from my neighbor Darcy Schan...

Darcy's Grandfather Leo in his pre-war boxing days. His ring name was "The Toy Bulldog"

    His Great Uncle Jim Schan.

Some of the Schan brothers at the Victoria Hospital in 1965, after Joe suffered an aneurysm. From left to right: John, Jack, Joe, Andrew(relative), Nick and Leo. Leonard is missing in this photo.

Jim was the only brother KIA during the war.
