So you are looking for a World War One type liner that was originally riveted to the shell with the leather chinstrap? There may be some companies making reproductions but to find an original will be very difficult to say the least.

Okay, so it's a MkII.... AG/C erroneously marked their shells MkI which would be a WW1 helmet with a totally different liner. Yes, liners for MkII helmets are out there. Good luck with your hunt. I never did find that chinstrap I mentioned but if I do come across it I'll send it to you for free.

The official Canadian designation of the WWII helmet was: Helmet, Steel, Mk II. The empty shell, or body, was designated: Body Mk I to Helmet, Steel, Mk II. So the Mk I mark you see on Canadian helmets is only the designation of the shell.

While there were some of the First War helmets that had been refurbished in Britain I suspect that the Canadian ones were all new manufacture.

Ah yes, I just referred to my copy of "Tin Lids" and refreshed my memory on the subject. So not an error on behalf of AG/C but they were the only company to add this designation to their shells.

I just checked my helmets and the GSW helmets are all marked with MkI. It appears that CL/C did not use the mark and unfortunately I don't own an AG/C.

I do find in curious that CL/C didn't use the indicator on their product though, as I would have thought it would have been a requirement of the contract.

The screws pop up on epay once in a while with some wild prices. I look for trashed helmets for sale that still have the screw in place.

One has to think that someone, somewhere is sitting on a cache of these elusive little screws.
