Found myself a dirty little cartridge for the collection. I've been looking for one of these for a long time. Not particularly rare, but elusive at a decent price. I've had an inert HE shell sitting around for years so now it will have a mate.

Nice Find!
Nice find and in good shape as well. A couple of years back a fellow gave me two. I also brought some back from the UK about 10 years ago. They had been left behind by the Essex Scottish before embarking to go to France in 1944 and had been dug up from their staging camp in Kent.

What condition were they in after being in the ground so long?

Yeah, I'm sure this one was buried as well. It should clean up nice though.

Haul From England
Here is an image of some of the recovered material that was shipped back from the UK in 2003.

Ed, did you participate in the recovery of those items? I would love to personally pull some artifacts from the ground... my idea of the perfect vacation.

Re: 1942 6 Pounder Cartridge Casing
My cartridge was definitely buried. There was ample evidence of this on the inside and out. I cleaned up the outside a bit(a lot) and found these markings. E7C over CAN, and a circle within a square.
