    Prefair finds Empty Prefair finds

Post by Canadian Corporal Sat Apr 06, 2013 6:30 pm

Hi everyone. I went to my local surplus store this morning, looking for some work pants, and walked out with them and a few other bits and pieces. First of all I picked up a '64 pattern gas mask pouch in excellent condition. It was marked T.I.L. 1972. I then found 2 bayonet frogs, one beige marked T.I.L 1955, and a green one marked 1952, both really nice. Then I found both left and right " L " straps to what looks like the '54 pattern webbing. I also found what looks like possibly an Enfield sling. As is, its 36 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. And finally I found 3 belt supports for the '54 pattern belt.

I am a newbie on the older stuff ( pre 1964 ) so if I have made a mistake describing something, please tell me so. It would be greatly appreciated.

Nice stuff and items that are becoming more collectable.

The Webbing you have is as follows: 1937 Pattern Bayonet Frog dated 1955, 1951 Pattern Bayonet Frog dated 1952, 1951 pattern Brace Attachements, 1951 Pattern Shoulder Straps (L Straps to most people), 1951 Pattern Rifle Sling (For FNC1A1 and C2) and what looks like a 1st Type 1964 Pattern Respirator Bag (missing web harness).

Hey John, did they refill the bins again? I never saw anything like this my last visit before returning to Ottawa. I am planning a day trip to Rivere de Loup fairly soon to visit the grave of Jean Dube in St Patrice Cemetery. If I am passing by during normal opening hours, I may pop in.

Hi Cliff, I don't know if they refilled the bins but I basically emptied the bin with all the straps and sorted through them, almost one at a time. There may have been 1 or 2 more L straps but not much else in that bin. I did spot a few '54 canteen covers, but they were mostly trashed. Riviere de loup is quite the drive, even from here. But if your in the area contact me at 202.
