When a Canadian Soldier went "walking out" on pass/ liberty or even walking about camp, were they required to wear the p-37 web belts? I know that is a requirement in the British Army, but I had read somewhere that wasn't required or enforced with Canadian troops. Is that correct?

Re: Walking out....
It was specifically stated that webbing was not to be worn when off-duty and I would look at British regs again as I believe they were not allowed to either.

Ok, that's what I thought. Is there a book for the Canadian troops that covers uniforms and insignia?

I know Jean Bouchery has written one. Don't know if it's any good, never seen one.
I thought the name is Canadian soldiers in/during WW2

Books on Uniforms
I would hazard a guess that Clive at Service Publications may know of one or two books.
