Re: Hessian helmet cover
Hi Jonhno if memory serves me correct this particular style of hessian cover with the extra added slits for foliage is attributed to the RAF .
I have some rather good links and reference material up North but wont be back there till mid next week I will see what I can dig up I as well have been wanting to add an example to my collection for some time now but original examples are very hard to source and almost never come up for sale in the market place one has to be extra diligent with these as there are some fairly good repos in the market place from time to time.
Regards Mark

Re: Hessian helmet cover
hello Mark, hope your well, I was under the impression this was a NZ produced helmet cover from other examples I had seen, any extra insight is always helpful,

Re: Hessian helmet cover
my mistake a batch was found in NZ years ago from reading on another forum
http://militarianz.freeforums.org/show-us-your-helmet-covers-t1617-15.html
yeah my pics are not the best it actually makes it look a lot brighter than it is, the flat photo I darkened it a bit to give a better impression, it appears to have been on a helmet as it seems to have some slight thinning around the brim, and underneath is a bit darker, not that means alot ! lol
would be interested to know what you are looking at book wise as I could do with some help
Cheers
John

Re: Hessian helmet cover
Morning John as to reference material I have on the subject was sourced from the world wide web over the last few years as earlier stated I have been looking for an example of a Hessian cover to add to my own collection for some time now and have found some really good material on these from websites and other forums .
I am home on the Island right now and wont get back to Northern BC till Wednesday night so I will dig around and add a few links upon my return.
Regards Mark

Re: Hessian helmet cover
Hi John sorry for the late reply I guess my memory is not as good as I thought the RAF style are different in construction they have wider foliage loops on them and are located in a different location on the cover I will post a link below I will look through my other reference material tonight and see if I can find one in there that matches yours to construction.
