Hi everyone,
While on vacation in Ontario ( Wasaga region ) last week, an old buddy of mine called me up to give him a hand to fix a problem on his new toy, a 1968 red convertible Mustang. Him and I went through recruit school way back in 1984 and have been friends even longer. We got the Mustang running and he thanked me by giving me some old military gear.
First up was his complete old '82 pattern webbing. It has seen better days but its is in good shape.

Next up is the pistol holster he wore in Afghanastan.

Then there was the old green thermos (missing cover) and insulated carrier.

Then he gave me a mint, unissued '64 pattern pistol holster.

Up next was a '64 pattern web belt with 2 mess tin carriers and one set of tins.

And finally, this one is very interesting. I have seen this only once before and that was back in the mid '80 on a field exercise. I cannot remember if it was an actual issue item of if it was made by local material techs. It is a Sterling 9MM
sub machine gun leg holster. I may be wrong, but could it have been an issue item to crews that served on vehicles ( MRT, wrecker, truck drivers)?

With the smg holster, if any one knows anything about it, please let me know about this neat piece of kit.
Cheers!
