It was listed as a WWII RCA belt.  I thought it was a "stable belt" at first. It didn't dawn on me (silly American, I know) that it was a Queens Crown, not a Kings crown, on a 1937 pattern belt.

What is the buckle really from?

Ok what did I just buy...... Empty RCHA Belt Buckle

This was belt arrangement worn with Battledress during the 1950's and 1960s. Most Corps and Regiments had them.

The belt doesn't have the tabs on the back?

Ha, your title made me chuckle, I have done his many times. Bought something and then tried to figure out just what the heck it is.

To me it appears as stated above by Ed, a blancoed belt worn by a member of the Canadian Artillery post 1953.

As Bill asked, are the rear tabs buckles removed?? I would expect they are.

There were belts made post war without the tabs.
Was this the belt offered by a vendor from Sudbury area?

The pictures do not show the tabs in the back at all so I cant tell if they were removed or not, and the Seller is from, Val Caron, Ontario

I had emailed that vendor about the listing and indicated that the buckle was post Second World War. IIRC the listing stated that the belt was SWW. You may have a valid reason to return the item if you wished.
The post war belts were made for dress not field use and they did not ever have the tabs on the back.

I have a couple of blancoed ones without the tabs, and the belt hardware (ends/hooks) are steel instead of brass. In the same bunch I have some that look like pattern 37 belts in the finish, etc, but do not have any metal fittings on the belt at all and use velcro to adjust the size.

Ok what did I just buy...... Empty 1937 Pattern Waist Belts

Post by edstorey Wed Sep 17, 2014 3:57 pm

By the 1960s there were two 1937 Pattern Waist Belts in use, the standard version with the brass 'keepers' on the back, it was listed as a C1; and the type without the 'keepers' Velcro fasteners which was listed as the C2.
