I have been asked to identify and value this item for an estate, but I can find no information on it anywhere.  Am hopeful one of you may be able to assist me.

I asked a local collector and he was stumped, so hoping someone can shed some light on it!

    Thanks all in advance!!

I believe it is the Belgian 1st Heavy Tank Battalion. Check this site,

Concur, it is the 1st Heavy Tank Battalion of Belgium. As to value, will this badge be part of an estate to be auctioned off? I think members here are loathe to give a price as value is a subjective thing. Also, some might not feel they are expert enough or have given a value previously on another badge, only to have the asker turn around and flog the badge on eBay or some other on-line sales site.

What someone would not even give you the time of day for, another would sell his first born to get (I exaggerate, of course). If the subject badge is not in a collector's field of interest, he might not be willing to pay anything. However, if the subject badge is all that a collector needs to complete, say a display of Belgium or Armoured badges, he might be willing to pay hundreds of dollars.

I might suggest that you go back to the local collector with the identification of this badge and ask him what amount he would not expect to pay any less than, and what amount he definitely would not pay any more than. Hopefully, this will give you a start point.

    Sincerely,

    Ian B
