Hi Darrell
Not sure what you have on your relative but his First War Service file is available at Library & Archives Canada:
https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/first-world-war/personnel-records/Pages/item.aspx?IdNumber=517060
On that page, just click on the hypertext "Digitized service file - PDF format: B409-S018" and it will open for viewing and/or download.
A Carpenter from Vermont.
Joined in Montreal August 1915 with 69th Battalion. Next-of-kin was his Mother in Orleans Vermont. A short time in England the saw service at the front with the 19th Battalion from July 1916 to April 1917. He then returned to England as "Sick" with Trench Fever/Myalgia. Bronchitis also appears as an ailment for him. He spent a long time in hospital and returned to the 19th Battalion just as the war ended. He went back to Canada in June 1919. He was demobilized in Montreal in July 1919, proposing to live in London Ontario.
He died 24 March 1921 from Tuberculosis. It appears that he was married after the war and before his death. As Canada was just getting around to sending out the medals for the war at that time, his medals (British War medal & Victory Medal) were sent, along with a Memorial Plaque & Scroll, to Mrs Edna Larock in Woodstock Illinois. His Mother was sent a Memorial Cross (his wife not receiving one, I believe, as they married after his service) .
His death was attributable to his wartime service. He is recognized on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial with some photos of him included. Not sure why they are spelling his name Larocque there and apparently had 16 Brothers and Sisters!!: https://www.veterans.gc.ca/en/remembrance/memorials/canadian-virtual-war-memorial/detail/4010490?Emery%20John%20Larock
His Veteran's Death Card is also online but sparse for info: https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/mass-digitized-archives/veterans-death-cards-ww1/Pages/item.aspx?PageID=2784467
I hope this is of some help to you.
regards
Darrell
