So I thought I would show my MkI FS manufactured MkI helmet that was rescued from a recycling centre. So the story behind it all, I found a helmet on a local used site, pictures were bad, colour looked wrong, it had a weird home made liner but the price was cheap so I called the guy up. Went and looked at it saw it had a very early WW2 paint (my 1939 home front helmets have exactly the same paint) but FS marked. He told me he found it while working at the local recycling centre, I offered $20 he said yep and I walked away thinking well I got a nice cheap MkI shell.
I got home and got to look at it better, it has black stack marks over what looks like WW2 era paint, has nice sand over most of the helmet and then I saw the front and found under that paint, a Canadian Machine Gun flash. I was so excited, I have no way to tell what Battalion and I have no intention to uncover it I am still happy to have it in my collection.
Thanks for looking.
