Anybody see these style shoes before?

So I was back in an old surplus storage building today, and found a box full of these oddball shoes. They are all new, C/l\ marked, made in Argentina, and the really odd thing is the soles are made of a jute type string. I sure wouldn't want to wear them with no socks.

So can anybody ID them as to their service use or purpose?

I think they are RCAF emergency winter boots....seen similar ones in a surplus shop in Radway, AB

If my memory serves me right they are called Pimsoles and are used on board ships.....

Really old sports shoes. also used on board ships. some times warn when working in areas where ankle boots where frowned on (specially when using clicks)
