Hello everyone, I was hoping to get some opinions on this supposedly "mint" German m42 Helmet. I have done what research i could on my own but i thought id leave it to the professionals before i make a purchase. Tell me what you think, is it an original or is it just a repro? Thanks in advance.

Re: German m42 Helmet
Here is a link to a "mint unissued" helmet. https://www.lux-military-antiques.com/en/p/unissued-m42-heer-single-decal-german-combat-helmet.htm . Note that as exceptional a helmet as this may be, there is patina to it. It could be blems, fading of the leather, small rust spots. Also note little things like the manufacturers stamps, or inspectors stamps.
The one you show has no patina, no stamps, and the leather looks like it was made yesterday. My money says it probably was, or not far from, yesterday.

I looked on the website ….. I agree the helmet pictured is not WWII period.

I believe it looks like a reproduction, but its just my two cents worth. If interested,I do have an M42 for sale with paperwork from a trusted seller that I bought it from.

Hello,
I think it's a modern copy.
Too beautiful to be a good one.... I have never seen in France a 42 helmet in so perfect condition.

Looks like the lot info stamped into the rear of the skirt is much higher than expected. The liner definitely appears to be reproduction but I can't really give serious feedback on the shell without better photos. The paint looks new and the location of the stamps is unusual. If you want an original I would keep looking.
