Unknown SMG case Empty Unknown SMG case

Post by Tankermike Mon Apr 29, 2019 11:19 am

Anyone know what this SMG carrying case is for, it fits a taken down sten but is loose, it fits a MP40 but is tight, no markings other than written in pen "Parachute" on the inside flap. Canvas and leather with what looks like green blanco.

I don't think its for the sterling, the sten mag well can be rotated down but if memory serves me the Sterling cannot.

But your link sent me to another interesting YouTube video, experimental Canadian weapons, the semi auto Ross and Enfield rifles was interesting.

Unknown SMG case Empty Carry bag

Post by Ian B Thu May 02, 2019 1:09 pm

    Good day Mike,

Could the bag be for the Mark V variant of the STEN? It was produced with a wooden stock and pistol grip, and was issued to Paratroops in 1944. Maybe the design of that Mark allowed the butt stock to be detached and stored in the smaller outer pocket of the subj bag. With the word "parachute" on the inside of the flap, I could see it.

My thoughts. Hope it give you another avenue to search.

What about a Thompson? Not Canadian but the barrel looks like it would fit in the end perfectly
