Hi all, newby here. An all round collector of British and Canadian military 'stuff.' I am a Canuck who has been a long time transplanted to the UK.
I wonder if I can throw this mystery out there. I have been in possession of this tunic since the mid-1980s, I believe I bought it from Chris Brooker's shop on Stanley Street, London Ont.
Anyhow, it looks a standard No.1 Tunic: high collar with pockets and detachable epaulettes (holes for 3 pips). It is rifle green with a Highland cut jacket skirt. The buttons are a crowned bugle horn within a semi-circular wreath of thistles. The label is:
Wm. Anderson and Sons Ltd.
EDINBURGH & GLASGOW
279347 Capt. G.S. Atkins
March 1953
I am trying to identify the regiment. My first lead is the buttons, they are Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) design, however, I have never seen Cameronian buttons them in silver. Always in black in keeping as a Rifle regiment.
I have seen that Roy Thompson's Badges 1953-73, has the same design as for the post-1945 Perth Regiment of Canada.
The Army number wasn't all that helpful, IIRC it was to RAMC in 42/43.
Can anyone help? A suggestion, comments, cheeky remarks welcome!
