    This is a WWII Type 2 IJN helmet. The IJN used red lead-based primer and a very thick lead based grey paint to cover their helmets to counteract the constant exposure to salt air at sea. This one has been over-painted with the mustard brown of IJN landing parties. I believe it is all original, and a very good example. The liner and chin strap appear to be correct.
