    Gentlemen,

As much as I like the fact there is an all-Canadian militaria forum, I dislike the enormous ammount of sections and sub-sections in here. For example, there are 5 different sections in the WWII section. The WWII militaria is divided up into 9 more sections. Then take for example the Headgear section, which is 5 more sub sections. Now there are a lot of sections or sub sections without any posts at all. I think that alot of the sections could be made into one comprehensive, more active board. Just throwing up a ball here. If anyone agrees with me I can look into this some more and make some suggestions as to what boards to merge.

All suggestions are welcome. I am definitely no expert when it comes to managing a forum. I had plans to add things slowly as time went on but got slowed down drastically because of long hours at work.

I also had quite a few members who seemed anxious to get some of the categories rolling, but they seem to have disappeared or are busy doing other things.

I'm willing to change things around...all I need is some input into what everyone wants to see.

I agree with Wouters. There are too many headings, which ultimately lead to confusion. There appears to be some repetition in the categories. Streamlining now will save problems when the site grows.
As the site is organized by era, perhaps 3 basic headings under each major part of the forum. Eg For the First World War, have:
    1. General Discussion,History and Engagements,
    2. Militaria,
    3. Vehicles, Ordnance, Aircraft.
. There could be modifications thrown it for each area, but I would post images pictures under history if I had a good portrait, or under Militaria if it showed patches badges, etc.
The reference section could be renamed Galleries. Sub-forums could be added as needed under each heading. A start, and points to consider.

Merging it from 5 to 3 categories is a good suggestion Bill. I also think that the marketplace can be made into:

    -For sale/trade
    -Wanted
    -Archived/ no long for sale

Discussions on items for sale or trade will take place in their respective boards. The feedback part can be a sticky topic on the for sale/trade section.

Also, I suggest to cover the 11 reference library boards into one, 'Reference Library'. When a person clicks the Reference Library, the 11 sub boards will pop up.
Also, the collections part can be made into two boards; Display, storage and preservation tips and personal collections and displays. The websites part and surplus antique locator can be included in the display, storage and preservation tips.

There's a whole lot of suggestions like this I have but let's see how this works out.

All good suggestions guys. Just keep in mind that this forum and the hosting is free at the moment. Things are very limited as far as customizing and such. Eventually I will pay to get a better host and forum so we can lay this all out how we want it. I am already having troubles with the host as far as questions and suggestions for the forum, so I'm hoping to do a move soon. Just have to sell off a few more pieces of the collection to afford it.
