Here is another unusual item. This time it is a piece of an old calendar. The 1940 calendar, to be exact. The date, May 10, is the day the Germans invaded the Netherlands. This particular piece was saved by my great grandmother, who, in pencil, wrote in the upper right corner: '1940, 's morgens brak de oorlog uit', which translates to: '1940. In the morning, the war broke out.'
Now I am no religious man, but the text in the black box is quite fitting: Know me o God! And know my heart!
