I got these in today also and am not sure what they are. The headstamp reads " D C Co 10". The shell is 2 3/4 inches long and the diameter of the rim is 3/4 " Anyone recognize this one?
Hi Geoff, That thought had crossed my mind as well, but I have some older shotgun shells that are paper shells. Anyone know when they were using full metal shotgun casings?
Brass casings seem to have been used from about 1880-1920 but certainly were not as main stream as paper cartridges. The cost was the main reason that they were not used as much, but I think they were considered more waterproof than paper-cartridges. They are very similar to the 1" brass flares used in WW1.
Thanks again for the information. I don't want these things so if anyone wants them and has something small they want to trade or a small cash offer, send me a message.
