As a fairly new member and collector of WWII things I was very pleased to aquire the following items from an old friend in the antique business. Included in this group is a soldier's Service writing kit, rank stripe, 4 paybooks, social insurance card, statement of war servce gratuity and a picture of this soldier who was a gunner in the RCA 19th field regiment. He was a soldier for 1691 days and qualified with 815 days of overseas service. Enlistment date Aug. 9, 1941 at Moose Jaw, Sk. He was quailifed as a rifleman, driver, Norton M.C. rider and PIAT fired, etc.
He embarked from England on June 3rd, 1944 and disembarked in France on D Day. His regiment was credited from firing from their landing craft while coming ashore. Wounded on Aug. 11, 1944. I have been unable to determine where this action took place. Any help where this wounding took place would be much appreciated.
