I have had these two kicking around for a while. I was told the chevron may be a good conduct chevron for a rifle regiment. The other one...don't know. It is approx 1.5 x 1 inch. To me it looks like an artillery patch of some sort. Any opinions?

Re: Two Unknown Patches
Top example is a cadet year of service stripe. (I think it is worn the other way around.) What are the measurements on the bottom patch? And, an image of the back?

Re: Two Unknown Patches
Thanks for ID on the chevron Bill!
The other one is about 1.5 by 1 inches. I will have to take down my ryker case it is displayed in to get new pics for you. I need to change it anyways so I will do that ASAP.
It may not even be military for all I know. It just looked like the tactical recognition flash that artillery units use so I threw it in the display.
Thanks again!

Re: Two Unknown Patches
Finally took this one out of the ryker case and got a pic of the back...tardy, tardy. Now to see if it is military at all.

Re: Two Unknown Patches
Yeah, I figured so. It left with a pile of other patches this Summer. Don't have to ID it anymore.

Re: Two Unknown Patches
I have 2 or 3 of those patches as well. However mine are printed (I'm pretty sure) and quite well done. Again they too are packed away somewhere and I can't seem to find them just off hand. When I find them I'll try to post a picture.
I believe they are military, possibly Artillery but do not know for sure.
If anyone has even a guess it would be helpful.
Thanks

Re: Two Unknown Patches
Finally found the patches. The square one is printed and sewn on the backing as shown, top and bottom edge are open. The diamond shaped one is felt and professionally done by the looks of it. Sizes are 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 for the square ones and 1 3/4 square for the diamond shaped one.
Unlike the one shown in the original post these seem to be very well made, except possibly the square ones with the top and bottom edge left open. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Two Unknown Patches
These look like patches to be used on the Wolseley helmet. Go down to near the bottom of http://www.servicepub.com/wolseley.htm and you will see an RCA helmet with this.
The concept was carried through to the steel helmet in the early years of WWII. See http://www.servicepub.com/helmetflashes.htm
I would be interested in buying all or one of each if you wish to part.

Re: Two Unknown Patches
I would be interested in one of the rectangular ones if they are available...
