Proper identity disc for fictional soldier Empty Proper identity disc for fictional soldier

Post by HerbertWest Wed Sep 25, 2013 12:10 pm

Greetings. There is a story by H. P. Lovecraft called "Herbert West -- Reanimator," which features scenes set at the battle of St. Eloi Craters in April of 1916. One of the characters, a Canadian surgeon named Major Sir Eric Moreland Clapham-Lee, is killed in a plane crash just prior to the battle.

As part of a costume, I would like to make proper replicas of Major Clapham-Lee's identity discs, and I wondered if anyone on this forum would be willing and able to help me get the details right. I know what Canadian identity discs from WWI looked like in general, but I'd like to stamp the proper information on the disc, so that it would pass muster with someone who is really knowledgable about such matters. I don't want to just make up stuff that would be insulting to the memory of real Canadians who died in battle.

Would anyone here be willing to help me get the details right? It would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!
