91st Canadian Highlanders Uniform

Hey guys,
Picked this up today, looks good to me but this period has caused me some grief before. With Victorian crown militia buttons and kings crown collars, I believe this to be in the 1903 to 1914 time frame, leaning towards 1903 based on the buttons with use through WWI. It is named to McFarlane, first initials appear to AJ.

It is in good condition, but not minty by any stretch of the imagination. I forgot to post the photo of the embroidered shoulders/

Nice catch Jeff. I wish I could help you out with some additional information, But these are way outside my comfort zone of knowledge.

Looks good. IIRC, the 91st / Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders continued to use these tunics in the inter-war period, for full dress parades / ceremonies.

I may be able to use this tunic in an upcoming, 2-volume, history of Victorian-era Canadian uniforms. Can you re-shoot the front and back? Best results come from laying them on a white sheet but try to have the camera as much as possibe directly over the uniform to avoid the skewing effect that occurs when the camera is at an angle. If possible the sleeves should be arranged close to the body so no light shows through.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought it would be better to add to this old existing thread about 91st Canadian Highlanders uniforms. I hope this is okay.

Anyway, I have a doublet that is similar to the one shown above, but also different. The shape of the collar, KC rather than QC militia buttons, style of "91" embroidered onto epaulettes, etc. I'm hoping somebody might be able to give me an idea of when this doublet dates to, and if it's a Canadian-made doublet or was imported from Britain. Any information would be gratefully received!

Anyone ever seen a pair of metal shoulder badges to the 91st? Looking for a pair but they seem hard to come by. Perhaps exacerbated by the fact that many were embroidered.
