What era a UK/Canadian uniform ??

Hello Have not been on here for awhile. Just not finding any Canadian items in Central Florida.

Saw these at Flea Mkt they were found in a trunk with much insect damage. I thought they might be Canadian as owner tells me another jacket was in trunk but so bad he only saved the buttons that had Canada on them (Not available for pic). Sorry pics so bad but all I had was my old flip phone and had not tried to take a picture with it in a year or so. Maybe you can see enough to make an educated guess on what the black jacket with Ord. embroidery is as well as the smashed helmet. Will be good to hear from some of my old friends again. I hope they are not too large. Richard the old suwanneetrader.

The helmet looks like a Victorian era British home service helmet. A clearer picture of the badge would help immensely to identify it.

A clearer picture of the helmet would definitely help.  However, the centre looks like the world globe, so I'm thinking Royal Marines maybe?

(Also, on closer inspection, it appears the words around the central badge may be "Per Mer Per Terram", the motto of the RM)

The jacket looks like French Gendarmerie with the rank of Marechal des Logis (sergeant). Better photos and one close-up on the buttons would help enormously. Best regards. J-F (from Normandy).
