Canadian Highland Uniform Question

I'm restoring my grandfather's uniform, and need help on a few items:

Boots: were they brown or black, I had read somewhere that the highland units wore black.

Stockings: Were they khaki? And what color tab(?) did they have attached? He was 16th Cdn Scottish. And how was it attached.

Anyone know where I could get the stockings, colored tab, and puttee's?
