Can anyone give me some idea of the value of a 1914 dated 1912 pattern saddle? It is Canadian marked and appears to be in very nice condition and is complete with both spurs. This is an item that is outside of my normal collecting area so I really have no idea how rare or desirable they are. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: 1912 pattern saddle value
I could be way out to lunch, but I saw a few last year around my area that I would consider in worn but otherwise usable condition selling for $200.00 to $400.00. These were missing the girth straps. Which of course are a separate part, not usually accompanying the saddle.
I was actually looking into one as we have horses and I thought it would be great to have an original Calvary saddle.

So I have a range of value between $200-750.... obviously more research is needed on my part.

Re: 1912 pattern saddle value
My wife used to use one of these saddles on a Morgan, I will ask her how it was. We sold it for 250 with a nice set of stirrups 1915 dated C arrow, it was a nice piece but unless you have a permanent display idea or are going to use it, it became a bit of a pain in the butt storing it,
I don't know about using one today? they are getting old, the one we had the stitching was going in places,
have seen clean dated stirrups go for 100 on their own, saddle would have to be cheap to tempt me into owning another though

Re: 1912 pattern saddle value
Good Morning Everyone......
The one that I have is still useable and the stitching is strong, I purchased it from a man who had retired as a saddler and used to make the prize saddles for some of the rodeo's out here.....
