Found this helmet last week, .
The helmet came from a scrap metal seller in Almelo the Netherlands (liberated by the 4th Canadian armd division).Probably turned in with some other scrap from a farmyard or so.
But the inside is fortunatly ok,what me made buy the helmet is the Canadian service number in the liner (for as far I can see the liner was always in the helmet).
Nowadays armoured corps helmet are pretty hard to find overhere, and this type of helmets named to Canadian soldiers are really rare.
I ran the service number on Google and this turned up:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/medals/001099-119.01-e.php?&person_id_nbr=65832&&PHPSESSID=5duqcp88v7615u29jseo5d4ne3
When I examaned the rest of the liner the name was also in there, a bit faint but you can clearly read the name HEAL.
Now i have got a question, is it possible to get more info about this John Reginald Heal, for example what regiment did he serve in as a signalman ,what was his action to be MID (I assume that this means he did something outstanding).
I hope to get some additional info here.
Cheers Henk-Jan
