An offering on ebay. The tunic is very interesting, but needs to be parsed. Buyer beware. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-Canadian-Rocky-Mountain-Rangers-Tunic-Large-size-1941-dated-Very-scarce-/191736016556?hash=item2ca45b6eac:g:cVAAAOSw5VFWQqh7&rmvSB=true

Re: Another tunic to evaluate...
Hi Gregoire, The two tunics that you have linked to are not concerning. The BCR one was at one time in the hands of Marway Militaria. It has been "restored" by the addition of service chevrons.
The 3 A/T tunic also looks good, but it is not a D-Day tunic.
Almost all of the Second World War tunics that are on the market are coming home tunics, not field service tunics.

I read this quote: Canadian Battle Dress never had an austerity pattern introduced, though the collar closure did change from a set of hooks and eyes to a flap and button in about 1943
and I see in this Ebay ad, it does indeed have the hooks at the collar, being a 1941 Tunic. Would it be a good jacket for the price even if the badging was wrong Bill, no?? Or is it a no-no to remove or ad different badges to a Tunic?
Sorry for the lame question, I am new to this.

Re: Another tunic to evaluate...
Many soldiers tailored or modified their tunics. Look at the back of the 3 A/T tunic. It has been tailored extensively. There were modifications made to the neck closure when or's were allowed to wear their tunics open at the collar.

Re: Another tunic to evaluate...
Is that what you are referring to for Buyer Beware? I was thinking it had the wrong badges on it.

Re: Another tunic to evaluate...
Buyer beware is applied to the Rocky Mountain Rangers tunics. The other two look ok.

Re: Another tunic to evaluate...
Bill, was the Rocky Mountain BD listed in the past by this seller? For some reason I think I have seen it before.

Re: Another tunic to evaluate...
Hi Ron, I don't remember the R M Rang tunic, but he has listed the other two before. The opening bids for them are certainly optomistic. Re our earlier discussion, the peak in values seems to have passed and though two of the offerings appear to be authentic (without discussing the restoration to the BCR example), approx $1000 is certainly top end.

Yes, I think you are correct Bill and this vendor has always shot for the stars with his BD listings.
