Someday will find an original but came across this the other day. Anyone know what era this is and who wore it, maybe American? About 2 1/2 inches tall. Cheers Brian

Re: canada / usa patch
Hi Brian, that is an example of the First Special Service Force patch (as Dean noted). The patch is unusual construction, probably post war or repro. The Canadian component of the FSSF wore the US issued patches, which are the typical US manufacture pattern, fully embroidered cut edge.

Yes I know they are 1st special service force but had not seen this variant. Suspect worn by American troops likely post war. Don't think its repro as its well made but differing construction. Someday will come across a "real' one but I know there are lots of repros out there. Cheers Brian

Correct Cliff. A collar disc set was offered on the BCMBF. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60303

This is the Italian made patch and in my opinion is 100% correct and WWII vintage. I think this was a very good score. These are much rarer than the US made variants. There are three types of these spearheads which were issue and there are several other privately made examples.

Thanks for the replies guys. Got lucky on this one, was in a box of badges at a flea market for $1. Most were post-war American but there was a couple of good ones in there. Cheers Brian

Brian,
That is a great patch ... they retail for $350 and I've seen them sell for over $500. Would you have paid $50 for the box ???

Re: canada / usa patch
Brian, in the question you asked who used these badges, I answered but your respond was that you already knew that, I found your reply somewhat condisding and somewhat rather less that thankful
If you knew that already, why did you ask that question the way you did???
I try to be help full, but I see you were not happy with my reply.
Guess it is time for me to leave this forum.

Certainly not intended to sound that way. Sorry if it seemed to. I should have been more clear as to who wore them American or Canadian. Brian

Re: canada / usa patch
Guess I have a thin skin as it bothers me that I would be condescending and less than thankful. In my mind I thought it was clear that I knew what the patch was when I stated someday will find an original. I don't need crap like this so goodbye.
