    Hi guys!

I recently came across this Canadian-made mapcase (which I am guessing was made in 1946 based on other examples I have seen) and was wondering if anybody recognized the inspection stamp. Rather than a Canadian broad arrow, it has a stamp that appears to have a crown as well as a "INSPECTED - CANADA" under an unreadable line.

    Anybody have any thoughts?

Very interesting stamp, I have yet to come across anything looking like that so far.

I would really like to have seen the actual date, are you sure it is 1946? The tiny portion of stamp you can see protruding from the button looks flat like a five. I have yet to see Z.L.&T. markings like that after 1945 my self.

Most of these mapcases are indeed made in 1946.
Here in the Netherlands we see a lot of these.
And sold as wartime datet 1940.
I also have seentrouwers and BD jackets with this type of stamp.
Always thought it was an inspection stamp used after the war after inspection of equipment that came back.

I have seen this stamp before. I think it has something to do with surplus items sold after the war.  I'm not sure what they stand for but I think it is revenue or some type of Tax stamp applied when the item left Canadian ownership .... I have seen it applied to Canadian BD that was given to the British after the war ....

I had actually seen a box of these on Crown Asset sales a couple of years ago, I was going to bid but then thought "what am I going to do with a tri-wall of 46 dated map cases?"

The wife would have killed me....

Thanks for the better picture, very interesting.
I do wonder why they were being made in '46? Filling a Commonwealth WWII contract or for another country for another conflict?
